| Lincoln Square Acupuncture is bringing the Chinese approach to the healing arts to Chicago. We welcome people who are suffering from ailments or health problems and feel frustrated by Western medicine's inability to diagnose or treat their conditions. Our approach is based on thousand year old principles that view the body and its systems as a whole. This approach means that we address not only your current symptoms, but also the root of the problemas well as any conditions that you might be susceptible to in the future.
What is Community Acupuncture?
Unlike many acupuncturists in the US, we use a style known as Community Acupuncture which is quickly gaining popularity. More traditionally used in Asia, this style is done in a community setting, with recliners set up in a common space, or lounge area. ÊThe Benefits of Community Acupuncture are many: the lounge setting allows for a collective energy field to be established which can enhance the effect of the individual treatment, it is easy for friends and family members to come in for treatments together, and it allows us to keep the cost of treatment reasonable. Services at Lincoln Square Acupuncture
Acupuncture's basic theory is that an invisible energy called Qi flows through the body. In a healthy individual, Qi flows freely through the meridian network. When there is a blockage of Qi, disease, disorder or pain will result. Acupuncture works to release the blockages to restore the energetic balance of the body. Treatment programs are individualized for each patient, and may include one or more of the following services: acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, moxibustion, cupping, scraping, electrical point stimulation, traditional Chinese TuiNa massage or herbal elixirs.

What Acupuncture Can Treat
For literally thousands of years, acupuncture has been used in China to treat problems like asthma, high or low blood pressure, colds/flu, digestive disorders, dizziness, chronic fatigue, gynecological disorders, headache, insomnia, anxiety and depression. Other common problems that acupuncture can treat include irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), premenstrual syndrome (PMS), urinary disorders, infertility, migraines, sports injuries, sciatica, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and allergies. Even things that might not be considered disorders in Western medicine may be treated by Chinese medicine, like cold hands and feet, night sweating, feeling flushed or a bitter taste in the mouth.
